Sir: As a gardener I appreciate the frustration of 'slugs eating plants' (Weekend, 26 February). However, using one creature (nematodes) to eat another (slugs) alive from inside seems immoral. It causes a slow, agonising death, worse than the ghastly but quick slug pellets. I have used a home-made contraption for years which keeps slugs and plants apart without harm to either. Any ecology-friendly plastics manufacturer please get in touch, 'for slugs' sake']
Yours faithfully,
I. HAYWARD
