YOUR article 'An English burglar starves for Nagaland' (21 March) displays shocking ignorance. The photograph captioned 'Poverty in Nagaland' is of two Hindu 'sadhus' (wandering monks) and definitely not representative of the Naga people, who in appearance take descent from the people of South-east Asia. Further, Christianity is the dominant religion in the state.

Nagaland was previously a Tribal Area within the state of Assam, and was granted statehood in 1962. The movement seeking independence from India is small and you ignore Nagaland's existing special constitutional privileges.
