Sir: As a member of the public, I do not find the personal life of David Mellor MP particularly in my interest, although I myself find it interesting.

What I do feel is in the public interest is how the People obtained this information, and how the tabloid press seemingly get away with trying to destroy a person's marriage. Bill Hagerty, the People's editor, has stated that the means used to get this story were legal. Surely this is not good enough.
