I WAS surprised to read Charles Nevin's claim (Notebook, 8 August) that 'he couldn't have been lying through his teeth, because he had taken them out'.

Charles should have his eyes tested because all I took out of my mouth while he was interviewing me was a denture containing two false teeth. Apart from that I have a full set of 'railings'.
