Sir: Watching the television pictures of the misery within the besieged cities of Bosnia, I am struck by the fact that despite the lack of water and electricity, the children's clothes and hair appear well cared for. I think the mothers deserve the highest praise for their efforts to keep up a standard of cleanliness in these appalling conditions, striving perhaps for some normality.
