Sir: Friday's front page featured the dreadful plight of Mr and Mrs Butler who have, it seems, received appalling health care . You then went on to assume their case was typical in order to tell your readers "The truth about health". As a fellow cancer sufferer I can assure you that unlike the Butlers I have received superb care from my GP (not a fund-holder), from the staff at the Royal Free and from the district nursing service.
So what do these two stories tell us? First, that parts of the health service are very poor indeed and have to be improved. Second, that it cannot be judged on an anecdotal basis using selected cases.
