Letter: Concerns over Kenyan elections

Sir: The letter from S. B. A. Bullut, the Kenyan High Commissioner (6 July), is misleading. Opposition parties and the National Council of Churches continue to express serious concerns about the electoral commission. Indeed the opposition parties' decision, announced on 1 July, to abandon the boycott of voter registration, was based on an understanding that the government would review these concerns.

Article 19 welcomes any measures to build confidence in the electoral commission and to ensure full participation in the electoral process.
