Sir: You write: 'Charles cannot be a defender of all faiths' (leading article, 27 June). The King of Thailand has the title 'Defender of the Faith'. He is, of course, a Buddhist, but it is officially stated that he is indeed the defender of all faiths in his kingdom.

So, why not Charles?
