SURELY the best approach is to leave our water at its present standard, and to expand the manufacture and distribution of replaceable cartridge purification systems for use in the home since less than 5 per cent of our 'purified' water is consumed?
Replaceable cartridge systems can be devised to remove a wide range of contaminants, and if poor families are supplied free and others charged according to means, we could have safe drinking/food-processing water in all homes. The standards of reservoir water could then be lowered.
