Sir: As a probationer member of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (CAAV), my attention was drawn to your article 'Pin-up exposed: why Marky Mark is taking the rap' (10 May), in which this august association (the CAAV) is described as the 'Committee Against Anti-Asian Violence'.
With the proliferation of action groups and organisations, is there not a register of acronyms through which one can claim legitimate use of certain initials? If not, I wonder whether the CAAV referred to in your article can claim the use of their namesake's (worthy) motto 'Do what is right, come what may'?
Yours faithfully,
JAMES BRIDGLAND
