Sir: As a gay man I welcome your enlightened editorial (16 July) on the genetic factors involved in my biological make-up. However I disagree when you say it 'is unfortunate that once again mothers seem likely to take the main blame'. My homosexuality is fundamental to my life and my contribution to society. All credit to my mother if it was her gift to me.
