Earlier this year, the Herbal Medicines Advisory Committee was set up with a view to regulating complementary therapies. The European Union is stepping in too with a punitive directive. This is distasteful. If people want to use treatments of spurious medical utility, they should be allowed to. These underhand attempts to regulate products out of existence have a distinctly unpleasant smell about them.
