Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The number of donations received for the Independent’s Christmas appeal with Space for Giants this year has been unprecedented. Just as overwhelming was the support from celebrities around the world.
From David Cameron to Stephen Fry to Damian Lewis, politicians, actors, musicians and artists - to name a few - have spoken out against the poaching crisis. Through their support we have reached millions more people with our urgent campaign and have raised well over £300,000 for the charity Space for Giants, who will be using the money to end poaching on the ground in Kenya.

Judging by the measure of the support we received, the urgency of this year’s campaign has truly struck a chord with our readers, and our campaign to save the elephants doesn’t stop here. As we move into the second phase, and our focus turns to the political, we need your support more than ever.
On February 13th a conference will be held in London bringing together charities, non-governmental organisations and heads of government from across the world to find global solution to wildlife crime. The conference is hosted by David Cameron and Environment Secretary Owen Patterson and is supported by the Prince of Wales and Duke of Cambridge, making it a high profile event with a real opportunity to create change.
Join the debate on our campaign page over the next month where we will be drawing attention to the key issue and solutions to ending wildlife crime once and for all.
