Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Elephants are majestic, incredible creatures

Well. Most of the time.

Ok. Perhaps only some of the time.

They're self-cleaning

And do a mean rainbow kick

Although, not always.

They love to splash about.

(Have you ever been THIS happy in a paddling pool?)

They're amazing swimming companions...

...and can take on alligator without a second thought

But elephants get on with most other animals (these two are best friends!)

Because at heart, they're really just softies

Who stick together...

...No matter what!

Don't say goodbye to such an incredible species.

Animal rights groups estimate that poachers in Africa kill between 25,000 and 35,000 elephants annually – meaning about 104 die a day. Help our Christmas Appeal and ensure that in the future, we won't be relying on videos or gifs like these to show our children what elephants looked like before they died out - because we didn't act to save them. .
