Your support makes all the difference.ALMOST a year to the day since Punch magazine died, a new publication for cartoonists will rise from the ashes. Next Thursday - and it is not an April Fool's joke - a fortnightly broadsheet newspaper of some 24 pages called the Cartoonist will 'gladden a lot of hearts' while warming poor artists' pockets, according to our cartoonist, Chris Riddell.
It is the brainchild of Steve Way, Punch's last cartoon editor, who always believed Punch would be funnier without words. Three years later, and after an investment of pounds 90,000, Punch- without-words goes on sale at pounds 1.20. Dummy copies are bold and entertaining, cleverly imitating the traditional 'serious' press with home, foreign, leader, business and sports pages. This cartoon is from the health page.
