Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The Independent's online auction for Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) has been live since Tuesday, and readers have already been bidding thousands of pounds across a range of fantastic lots.

These include a romantic, week-long stay in 5-star luxury on the island of Mauritius; a private, back-stage tour of Elf the musical; an Aston-Martin performance driving course; and a giant cuddly-bear signed by Johnny Depp and Benedict Cumberbatch. And as Amol Rajan, editor of The Independent, mentions in the video above, you can also bid on a lot he is very excited about – lunch with him.

The bidding is powered by Givergy Access, a simple, effective online fundraising platform for charities to raise money by offering exclusive items and experiences that aren’t available elsewhere. Anyone can take part.

The first round of bidding is now open, and will close at 9pm on Tuesday 8 December. This will be followed by two more rounds of weekly bidding periods for different lots.
