Trump vows to free WSJ reporter Evan Gershkovich from Russian prison

Former US President Donald Trump has promised he will free Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich from Russian prison.

Mr Trump revealed in an interview with Time Magazine he is unsure if President Joe Biden will be able to facilitate the release of Gershkovich, Fox News reports.

He said: “Here’s the difference between me and Biden: I’ll get him released.”

Gershkovich was accused of espionage by Russian authorities and has been in custody for over one year.

US officials say the claims from Russian authorities are untrue, and the Kremlin has failed to give any evidence supporting their accusation.
