Mikael Ymer: Furious tennis player smashes racket on umpire’s chair at Lyon Open
Mikael Ymer was disqualified from the Lyon Open after smashing a hole in the umpire’s chair with his tennis racket.
The Swede was playing a last-16 match against Arthur Fils on Wednesday 24 May when he lost his cool.
Ymer disagreed with a decision from umpire Rogerio Santos before his opponent broke his serve, sparking a furious response.
He was seen smashing his racket twice into the umpire’s chair, before throwing the damaged equipment away to boos from the crowd.
A tournament official then informed the 24-year-old that he had been disqualified.
