Mikel Arteta: ‘We want to listen to fans’ over Super League
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says football must listen to supporters in the wake of the failed launch of a European Super League.
Arsenal were one of 12 leading European clubs to commit to forming their own breakaway competition they hoped would rival Uefa’s Champions League.
However, following furious backlash from supporters, football figures, governing bodies and even politicians, the proposal was dramatically dropped less than 48 hours after it was announced.
“I think this has given big lessons and it shows the importance of football in the world,” Arteta told a press conference.
