Lioness Georgia Stanway says players had no idea fans were waiting at Heathrow

England Lioness star Georgia Stanway has revealed she and her teammates had no idea fans were waiting to welcome them home at Heathrow Airport.

The Lionesses landed back in the UK on Tuesday after their World Cup final defeat, but fans who gathered at the airport to welcome them were disappointed when the players were escorted out through a back door.

Speaking on This Morning, Stanway revealed the Lionesses had no idea fans were waiting until they saw some tweets when back on their coach.

She said: “That’s hard for us as we want to give as much back to them as possible.”
