The 2022 Saudi Green Initiative Forum is fast approaching, with the event set to take place in Sharm el-Sheikh on 11-12 November.

The Independent spoke with industry experts, guests and organisers to establish what the aims of the second annual forum are, what it means for Saudi Arabia and how the climate commitments made could impact the wider world.

On Monday (7 November), Egyptian president Abdel Fattah El-Sisi praised Arab states, including Saudi Arabia, on taking "steps in the right direction" to tackle climate change.
