Moment tornado rips off roof of North Carolina house while resident is home
Dramatic footage shows the moment a tornado peeled the roof off a house while a person was at home in a North Carolina town on Wednesday, 19 July.
The devastating scenes shared by Claudius R Brewer in Dortches came as severe storms brought gusty winds and large hail to the state, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
The town was under a severe thunderstorm warning until 1pm on Wednesday, with wind gusts up to 60 mph and possible pea-sized hail expected.
NWS preliminary damage survey results indicate an EF-3 tornado struck the area, the first-ever observed in central North Carolina in the month of July.
