Dubai floods leave drivers stuck on submerged roads after heavy rain
Drivers became stuck in floods as heavy rains lashed Dubai on Tuesday, 16 April, with some abandoning their vehicles on roads across the United Arab Emirates city.
Rain began overnight and winds disrupted flights at Dubai International Airport, the world’s busiest for international travel.
Wet weather is unusual in the arid country but rain falls occasionally during cooler winter months.
Rain also fell in Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, and Saudi Arabia.
Separate heavy flooding in neighbouring Oman left 18 people dead with others still missing.
