Floodwater surrounds cars after powerful storm hits California
Dramatic scenes from California show cars surrounded by floodwater after a storm hit the state.
Footage posted on Saturday (11 March) shows crews from Urban Search and Rescue California Task Force 4 surveying the damage wrecked by heavy rainfall.
The extreme conditions were caused by an atmospheric river - narrow sections of the atmosphere that transport most of the water vapor outside of the tropics, carrying roughly equivalent to the average flow of water at the mouth of the Mississippi River.
At least 9,000 California residents were under evacuation orders last Friday due to the weather.
