Northern lights appear over Midlands in stunning timelapse footage

Spectacular timelapse footage captures the Midlands sky illuminated by the aurora borealis on Monday night (27 February).

The video, shared on social media by an astrophotographer named Ben, shows bright pink and red pillars of light appearing between clouds.

While the natural phenomenon is normally seen in countries closer to the Arctic circle, UK stargazers have been treated to the rare sight in recent days, as the northern lights illuminated skies across the country.
