Turkey elections: Will the earthquake response mark the end of Erdogan?
Citizens of Turkey are heading to the polls on 14 May to vote in the next general election just three months after two devastating earthquakes hit the country, killing over 50,000 people.
One of the many issues that could affect Erdoğan's re-election is the delays in rescue operations.
Müslüm Dalkılıç, 46 and co-chair of the British Alevi Federation in London, witnessed first-hand people who paid for a digger themselves to recover the bodies of their family members.
“Normally the government should provide all this help trying to rescue the people, but they said they didn’t have enough”, Müslüm Dalkılıç told Independent TV.
President Erdoğan publicly apologised for the delays in the rescue operations, but some voters believe this could cost him the elections after 20 years in power.
