Moped narrowly avoids 70mph train after dodging barriers at level crossing
CCTV footage captures the moment a pair of moped riders narrowly escaped being struck by a train travelling at up to 70mph, after dodging barriers at a level crossing near Littlehampton, West Sussex.
The driver and passenger can be seen swerving past the lowered barriers, avoiding the speeding train by mere seconds.
A statement from Network Rail said the riders ran red lights - which is a criminal offence - and caused delays to Southern passengers when the incident happened on 21 February.
