Sudanese doctors save gunshot patient’s life using Coke bottle amid conflict
Sudanese doctors have been speaking out about their new reality in the war-torn country following several attacks on hospitals amid the ongoing battle between the military and Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
Dr Abdul Raheem, who has been working across three separate hospitals in Sudan’s capital, Khartoum, spoke about how babies were being born by phone torches, and Coca Cola bottles were being used to treat gunshot wounds.
“The idea was to drain the blood from the chest. We mimic the test tube by using a bottle. That is all that was available at the time”, he told ITV.
Thankfully, the patient survived.
