Keir Starmer says it’s ‘nonsense’ to question Sue Gray’s independence during Partygate probe
Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer dismissed "nonsense" claims that Sue Gray's independence during her probe into Partygate should be questioned.
Ms Gray is due to take over as Keir Starmer’s chief of staff following a stint as a senior civil servant, during which time she investigated and produced the report into Partygate.
She found that events held in Boris Johnson's residence and other locations "shouldn't have happened" during Covid-19 lockdowns.
"It's nonsense and I've said many times before that I didn't speak to Sue at all during the Partygate investigation", Mr Starmer told LBC on Monday (15 May).
