Sadiq Khan says ‘zero murder’ target ‘not realistic’
London mayor Sadiq Khan has ruled out committing to a target of “zero murders” in the capital within the next 10 years if he is re-elected for a second term. The proposal was put forward by Sian Berry, the Green Party’s candidate for the 6 May mayoral election, earlier this month. Speaking to reporters while out in the city on Friday, Khan said it was important to be “ambitious” when tackling crime, but that he is keen to be “realistic” in terms of what can be achieved to reduce London’s murder rate.
