Storm Babet wreaks havoc in rare red weather warning

Storm Babet wreaked havoc across Scotland, which has seen the first red weather warning in several years.

Footage shows a tree snapped in half in Brechin and strong waves lashing Stonehaven Harbour.

Extreme weather conditions have seen heavy and persistent rainfall across south Aberdeenshire and Angus.

A woman’s body has been recovered from a river in Angus after the 57-year-old was swept into the Water of Lee at Glen Esk at 1pm.

Police Scotland have urged people to stay at home and avoid travel.

Around 10,000 homes in Scotland have lost power due to the storm.
