‘Idiotic’ teenagers jump into sea from Plymouth’s historic Mayflower steps
Tombstoners have been slammed after being filmed leaping into the sea - from the top of Plymouth’s historic Mayflower steps.
Shocked witnesses said a group of reckless youths risked their lives by leaping from the spot where the Pilgrims famously set sail to America in 1620.
Kenny Welsh, 41, said youths decided to scale above the steps for the 20ft plunge into the water and were “barely missing where the concrete was”.
He said: “There were more than a few eyebrows raised. I said to an old lady - ‘of all the places why are they jumping from there.’
“She was stunned by it and others were describing them all as idiotic.”
