Olympic snowboarder wins gold three years after cancer diagnosis

Max Parrot has won Olympic gold just three years after being diagnosed with cancer.

The Canadian won the gold medal after putting in the “best run of his life” in the snowboard slopestyle event.

He finished first ahead of China's Su Yiming and fellow Canadian Mark McMorris after a second-run score of 90.96.

Parrot was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in late 2018 but was declared cancer-free in July 2019.

Parrot won silver at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang and says it felt amazing to be on the podium again.

To be back out here, at the Olympics, on a podium again but with a gold medal, it feels amazing, Max Parrot.
