Mordaunt claims Tories defeated because they ‘failed to honour trust people had placed’ in them
Penny Mordaunt appeared to admit the Tories party failure to live up to the “trust” people had placed in it, suggesting it as the reason they’d lost the General Election to Labour.
Ms Mordaunt herself lost her seat of Plymouth North to Amanda Martin by 780 votes, but vowed to keep on “serving her community”.
“Tonight, the Conservative Party has taken a battering because it failed to honour the trust that people had placed in it”, she said.
“That fear steals the future, and it only makes the present matter and that is why we lost.”
