Housing migrants on barges would not be ‘illegal’, says Dominic Raab
Dominic Raab has suggested that housing migrants on barges while their asylum applications are processed would not be “illegal”.
The deputy prime minister added that the practice has been done in other European countries as he defended the potential policy.
“I don’t think it would be illegal, it depends on the circumstance and conditions,” Mr Raab told Sky News when asked why the suggestion is “on the table”.
“It’s been done elsewhere in European counties, I think it’s been done in Scotland. So we’ll get that policy right.”
