Joe Biden says he plans to visit US-Mexico border

Joe Biden has announced that he intends to visit the US-Mexico border on a trip next week.

Speaking to reporters in Kentucky on Wednesday, 4 January, the president said: “That’s my intention, we’re working out the details now.”

Mr Biden’s proposed visit, when he travels for the North American Leaders’ Summit in Mexico City, would be his first to the border since he took office.

As part of the summit, Mr Biden will meet with Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau and Mexico’s president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.
