Martin Lewis issues urgent message to parents after child benefit changes

Martin Lewis has issued an urgent message to parents following two key changes to receiving child benefit.

Recent government changes to the system have resulted in a higher income limit before losing child benefit entitlement completely.

Speaking on The Martin Lewis Podcast, released on 17 April, the money-saving expert said: “There are many people out there on earnings between £50,000 and £80,000 that are now eligible for child benefit again, who were not eligible before.

“If you have previously opted out of receiving child benefits to avoid the higher income child benefit tax charge, you must manually opt back in. You will not automatically be put back in.”
