Moment man temporarily blinds police officer by spraying ammonia in his face
A man temporarily blinded a Metropolitan Police officer by spraying ammonia into his face before pulling a firearm out from his waistband.
PC Samuel Goard approached James Boyle, 22, of Pulross Road, Brixton, after officers were called to reports of people acting suspiciously in Mitcham on 17 June 2022.
As the officer approached Boyle, the substance was sprayed.
Boyle was sentenced to 16 years imprisonment on Monday, 13 March after pleading guilty to seven offences including administering a poison or noxious substance with intent and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
