Starmer says party will go ‘further than New Labour’ under his leadership
The next Labour government will be “Clause Four on steroids,” Sir Keir Starmer has said as he pledges that the party would go “further than New Labour” under his leadership.
In a speech at Blairite think tank Progressive Britain, the Labour leader said his project of “taking our party back to where we belong” would go deeper than when Tony Blair rewrote the Labour constitution in 1995 and rejected the party’s commitment to public ownership.
“This is about rolling our sleeves up, changing our entire culture – our DNA,” Sir Keir said.
