Israel has not broken international law, says immigration minister
Immigration minister Robert Jenrick has said he "doesn't believe" Israel has broken international law in its strikes on Gaza.
Mr Jenrick's comments on Wednesday (25 October) came after UN chief Antonio Guterres said Israel's conduct in its war against Hamas has shown “clear violations of international law” in the Gaza Strip.
The secretary-general added it was "important to recognise" that the Hamas attack on Israel "did not happen in a vacuum."
"There is a clear right in international law for a nation to defend itself and that's what Israel is doing," Mr Jenrick said.
