Reporter announces death of Gaza colleague’s family live on TV after Israeli strike
An Al Jazeera correspondent announced the death of his colleague’s family in a Gaza airstrike while live on air on Wednesday, 25 October.
Wael Al-Dahdouh reported on the same attack without knowing his wife and children, a son aged 15 and a daughter seven, had been killed after fleeing south to seek safety with relatives at the Nuseirat Camp after Israel’s warning of a ground offensive.
The network said the Gaza bureau chief’s son had ambitions to be a journalist like his father.
Mr Al-Dahdouh’s grandson was also killed in the attack.
