Protesters clash with police outside Greek train operator’s HQ after deadly collision

Riot police faced protesters outside the offices of Greece’s rail operator in Athens following a deadly head-on train collision that killed at least 57 people.

Multiple cars derailed and at least three burst into flames as a passenger train and freight train crashed on Tuesday night (28 February).

Several hundred members of left-wing groups staged a demonstration late on Wednesday over the deaths.

Minor clashes broke out as some protesters threw stones at the rail operator’s offices and officers.
