‘Calm down’: Gary Lineker swarmed by reporters after BBC reinstates him on Match of the Day
Gary Lineker told reporters gathered outside his home to “calm down” after the BBC announced that he was to return as Match of the Day presenter.
The host was stood down following his tweet in which he compared language used to launch the government’s new small boats policy to 1930s Germany.
Saturday’s (11 March) programme was broadcast using a simplified 20-minute highlights package after pundits, analysts and commentators pulled out in solidarity with Lineker.
BBC director general Tim Davie has announced an independent review into the corporation’s social media guidelines.
