Florida suspect hides in tree to avoid arrest after fleeing police in stolen vehicle

Police in Tampa, Florida, found a suspect accused of stealing a car hiding out in a tree, hoping to avoid arrest after a car chase.

Officers attempted to stop a car on I-275 that was stolen in Polk County, Florida, before the suspect got out of the vehicle and ran into a nearby neighbourhood.

“Hanging out in trees is for the birds…and suspects,” the Tampa Police Department wrote, sharing the footage on Facebook.

“After canvassing the area from the sky, our Aviation Unit spotted the suspect hiding in a tree.”

Tampa PD added that ground units took the man into custody after he was located.
