EU says Taliban broke promises to form ‘inclusive’ interim cabinet
A European Commission spokesperson on Thursday (9 September) has criticised the Taliban for not sticking to their promise to form an “inclusive and representative” interim cabinet following the takeover by the group of Afghanistan in August.
Peter Stano, lead spokesperson for EU external affairs said: "This government is not something that the Taliban was promising" and added that it failed to reflect “the diverse and rich” background of the country.
Stano said that the European Union wanted to see the creation of an inclusive government before it would decide on their level of engagement with the Taliban.
