Ed Davey fires cannon to celebrate Lib Dem victory in Somerton and Frome
Sir Ed Davey lit a confetti cannon as the Liberal Democrats celebrated winning Somerton and Frome in Thursday’s (20 July) by election.
The Lib Dems overturned a majority of more than 19,000 with a 29 per cent swing in the Conservative safe seat in Somerset.
Sarah Dyke secured 21,187 votes while Conservative Faye Purbrick won 10,179.
The Lib Dem leader and his party’s new MP celebrated the victory by lighting cannon, bearing the words “Get these clowns out of No10,” that shot confetti into the air.
