Ed Davey dances to ‘Sweet Caroline’ as he celebrates Lib Dem election results

Ed Davey and the Liberal Democrats celebrated a strong election result by dancing to ‘Sweet Caroline’ as the results came in.

The party leader could be seen throwing his hands in the air as others in the room clapped along. A little too over-excited by the occasion, he even got the words wrong at points during the impromptu performance.

The Lib Dems won a record number of seats this election with 71 - 11 more than the previous election.

Sir Ed Davey hailed the result as “exceptional”.
