Dinosaur artist reveals how he created new Royal Mint collection
The artist for new official dinosaur coins has revealed how he created them for the Royal Mint (14 December).
Designed in collaboration with the Natural History Museum, the collection sees the tyrannosaurus-rex, stegosaurus and diplodocus each appear on a coin.
Paleo-artist Robert Nicholls designed them with guidance from Professor Paul Barrett at the Natural History Museum.
“So, I start with a blank coin and then I start adding the text because I know that needs to go in there and what it needs to be. Then, the dinosaur, the skeleton, it all needs to fit very carefully and closely together,” Nicholls revealed.
