Rishi Sunak backs official Covid inquiry after Matt Hancock WhatsApp leaks
Rishi Sunak has insisted the official coronavirus inquiry is the “right way” to investigate the government’s handling of the pandemic rather than relying on “piecemeal bits of information” after the leak of Matt Hancock’s messages.
The prime minister was challenged on reports from the Daily Telegraph during PMQs by Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer.
“Rather than comment on piecemeal bits of information, I’m sure the honourable gentleman will agree with me that the right way for these things to be looked at is the Covid inquiry,” Mr Sunak said.
