California neighbourhood covered in thick blanket of snow as rare winter storm sweeps state

A neighbourhood in California was covered in a thick blanket of snow as a rare winter storm swept through the state.

More than 120,000 people - many of them in the Los Angeles area - are without electricity after days of fierce winds, with mass power outages and flooding in some regions.

Footage shared by Jenelle Potvin on social media on Tuesday (28 February) shows heavy snow in the town of Truckee, Nevada County.

Temperatures in the area are still below freezing.
